Kalen Collins (although IMO Sarah Saunders should have gotten it)

    Congrat to both LPD teams.

To the Indian Girls. Make the dream reality.

Congrats to both coaches and teams on fine seasons.

    J. D. played good tonight too, sucked to see her get hurt. They could have used her athleticism during the regionals. Hope we get to see her play again this year.

Gate City has so many kids; they draw the better talent from other schools systems also. They have Athletes coming from several counties, almost like a small college. It is very hard for regular Single A schools to compete with this type of set up. For other Single A schools in SWVA to compete on that level they are going to have to be able to get athletes from other school systems. This is going to leave some schools without a program to speak of. The days of a school just having enough good athletes to go all the way to the State Finials in their regular student population is gone. Gate City should be the best just because they have a larger student population and with that more athletes to choose from. Most of the single A schools in SWVA on has an average of 250 students. Gate City has just fallen under the limit between single A and double A for years. These small single A schools do good to have 3 maybe 4 good athletes for each of their sports teams. Get to a school the size of Gate City and you will have 5 or 6 good athletes then add the 4 or so good athletes that move to play for them and you are going to have a heck of a time finding any regular single A school to compete with that.
Oh Congratulations JJK for a good win over Gate City. And there you go, JJK with a number of girls from several different school system pulled together to form a great basketball program. Hats off to Robin, he is a good coach. JJK is another team that I like to see get beat for a lot of the same reasons. JJK just happens to be the lesser of two evils for me.
I will say, now that they are representing the LPD I will be backing them as far as they can go. Hope one of them goes to The State Championship.
